If we believe the bureaucrats - we should all be dead! April 29, 2008

According to today’s regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the UK in the 1950’s, 60’s, and 70’s probably shouldn’t have survived…

Our baby cots were covered with brightly coloured lead-based paint which was promptly chewed and licked.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, or latches on doors or cabinets and it was fine to play with pans.

When we rode our bikes, we wore no helmets, just flip flops and fluorescent ‘clackers’ on our wheels.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the passenger seat was a treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle - tasted the same.

We ate dripping sandwiches, bread and butter pudding and drank fizzy pop with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing.

We shared one drink with four friends, from one bottle or can and no one actually died from this.

We would spend hours building go-carts out of scraps and then went top speed down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes.

After running into stinging nettles a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back before it got dark. No one was able to reach us all day and no-one minded.

We did not have Playstations or X-Boxes, no video games at all.

No 99 channels on TV, no videotape movies, no surround sound, no mobile phones, no personal computers, no Internet chat rooms. We had friends, we went outside and found them.

We played elastics and street rounders, and sometimes that ball really hurt.

We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits. They were accidents. We learnt not to do the same thing again.

We had fights, punched each other hard and got black and blue - we learned to get over it.

We walked to friend’s homes.

We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and ate live stuff, and although we were told it would happen, we did not have very many eyes out, nor did the live stuff live inside us forever.

We rode bikes in packs of 7 and wore our coats by only the hood. Our actions were our own. Consequences were expected. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law. Imagine that!

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers and problem solvers and inventors, ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all. And you’re
one of them.

Congratulations!

Thanks to BBC Lancashire for this article from way back in August 2003!

National Trust Says NO to Badger Cull on its Land April 29, 2008

The UK National Trust who protect special places of land and buildings in the UK have issued a statement saying NO to a badger cull on it’s land in Wales.

I think it’s great that such an important organisation in the UK has stepped up in voice for people who care about badgers.

Such a big organisation standing against a badger cull will hopefully give a massive knock to the Welsh government, but I won’t be surprised if somehow they legally make the Trust give up access to it’s lands.

Hmmm, blockades and tree chains anyone!

Athames - good for sacrifices and hunting or better sat on your shelf? April 16, 2008

I’ve got into collecting a few athames recently (a pic below) and I am wondering whether or not they would be good for hunting/skinning small animals?

Incase you don’t know what an athame is, it’s just another word for a knife, and supposedly one that is used for ceremonial or ritual work at that too.

So going on that, I suppose I could go hunt some small animals, catch them, and if there not dead from the trap, I could use the athame to kill them, and then skin them - I could treat it like some ceremony in respect to the animal and that way the athame would be being put to good use rather than just sat on my shelf!?

Suppose I should learn some hunting techniques first a?! … I think I’d be better off using one to cut some herbs or vegetables that I grow at the moment until I can learn some hunting skills.

Anyway, incase your wonder where I get my athames from, the website is called Enchanted Gift Shop, and they sell a number of other cool things, and I get some herbs from them occasionally too, they seem quite reasonable on price, but I like the overall feel of the website anyway, so I’ll stick with em for now!

Here’s a link to the athames they sell … click here

Eat less meat to save the planet or just have a human culling! April 15, 2008

Yup that’s right, eat less meat to save the planet!

Go do some research into what is fed to the animals that we in turn then eat ….. done it yet? … OK, I’ll help you out … it’s grains.

Now, think about the manufactured global food crisis that is currently doing the rounds, and tell me what type of food is supposedly lacking the most? …. yup, that’s right, grains.

Now go read those 2 paragraphs again, and tell me what you think would be a good solution to solving this supposed food crisis…..

…. I’ll wait a minute for you…..

….

OK, I’m bored, so I’ll help you out….

Stop eating so much meat and then there would be less animals that needed killing, which would in turn mean that less grains would be needed to feed those same animals, which in turn would mean more grains for all these people who are being affected by this food crisis.

I’ve read somewhere, and you can find it too if you go do the research, that something like 50% of all grain available in the world is used to feed animals, which we humans then in turn eat.

That’s a shit load of grains people.

Now, I’m all for as many people on this planet dying as soon as possible, because that would mean the animals and the environment would have a better chance of surviving, however, these people that would die are for me the wrong people….

These people who are affected the most by the food crisis are the one’s who normally live on the land more naturally, only using what the land gives them, and not taking more than they need.

Only some of those people are takers, the rest are givers, but have been turned into takers, by the dicks of the world.

A mass cull would help the food crisis too, say about oh I dunno, 3 billion maybe?

Get rid of half the population of every country …. we can do this by picking out the 50% of people that pollute this world the most, and we kill em off.

Then the 50% that is left stops eating so much meat, lives more sustainably and we all can live in peace, love and harmony … simple huh!?

I found an interesting post over at an American blog by a guy who calls himself Urban Scout and the post is titled collapse vs rewilding … some interest things to think about indeed, especially the end of the post…

“Go out there and start rewilding now. Breach a dam. Plant an orchard. Chain yourself to a tree. Teach your children that “weeds” don’t exist. Talk with other-than-humans. Shut down the grid. Learn to hunt and trap without modern tools. Take out roads. Make a family. Push a bill through congress. Hold your ground. Make friends. Discover enemies. Reclaim land from civilization. Get really fucking angry. Relax. Cry. Laugh. Think clearly. Don’t get caught. Follow your heart, follow your heart, follow your heart and live a life worth living, worth remembering, worth mythologizing until the sun engulfs the planet.”

Oh yeeeeah!

Go read the rest of the blog, some great stuff to be thinking about….

Could WWOOF’ing save the environment? April 14, 2008

I was thinking the other day, what things I could do to lessen my impact on the planet, and whilst I already live a lot lighter than most people, there’s still plenty of room for improvement, and one thing I thought of was WWOOF’ing.

For those that have never heard of the term, WWOOF stands for World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms and is basically a world wide volunteer scheme, whereby you pay a small amount for a yearly membership in a particular country and then you get a list of Organic farms/small holdings that people own and allow you to go visit them for a length of time and receive accommodation and usually food for a certain amount of work on their farm.

I don’t like the idea of people going travelling around the world to go WWOOF’ing as it defeats the object to work on an Organic farm if you have travelled via plane, or infact any other mean as coming from another country would seriously pollute the environment.

But most countries have a WWOOF scheme going so it shouldn’t be hard to find a farm in your country, which I think is the much better option, both environmentally, but also because you can learn something about your land base.

You can learn what food is in season, how it grows, and normally on these farms you get people using sustainable power too, so you can learn alot about being sustainable hopefully.

For me it’s also a good way of finding out about a new skill you could learn, and then perhaps you can get yourself out of a rut that you might be in … e.g your an office worker wanting to do your bit for the environment and become more self sufficient … an excellent way of moving towards this is to go WWOOF’ing.

You might want to buy your own bit of the land (which you should be able to have for free anyway) … and if you sit in an office job, trying to save some money, it could take a loooong while.  But if you go WWOOF’ing you could end up working on a big farm, making good friends with the owners and working for them for a few years, and one day they may have a bit of land they don’t want to use and you could have it for the upkeep of the land and continued work for them!?

So many opportunities would arise from going WWOOF’ing, and all of them could turn you towards becoming more environmentally friendly.

Anyway, I firmly believe that WWOOF’ing is good for the environment, whether it could save it is pretty unlikely but it would go along way to helping I believe.

70% of UK population must die! April 13, 2008

I bet that title got your attention!?

Whilst it is theoretically true, the correct term is that the UK population must decrease by 70% over the next 50 years for the UK to be sustainable …. there that’s a little less dramatic, huh?!

According to the article UK Over-Populated by 70 Percent over at the Optimum Population Trusts website, the UK must decrease its population levels to have any hope of being sustainable, and to not have a complete societal meltdown … hmmm, not sure if a collapse of our society is such a bad thing, as there are too many idiots in the UK who only think of themselves rather than the environment.

But if I can’t have a collapse of our society, then I suppose a population decrease of 70% will do.

There is no short term solution to a population decrease bar a war or mass cull of humans, so long term solutions are the only things available then, but what kind of solutions?

1: Stop people having more than 1 or 2 children - either completely and forever, or for a set period of years, say 50, so then the population level evens off, and eventually starts to decrease from deaths/migration etc.

2: Stop or thoroughly monitor immigration - just because the UK has a good standard of living doesn’t mean we should have a constant stream of immigrants … either stop immigration altogether or limit the amount allowed into the country each year.

That’s only 2 potential solutions and both actioned together at the same time, would I believe allow the UK population levels over the period of 50 years to decrease.

But what ever happens, something has to be done within the next 5 years, and it’s not going to be done voluntary because most of us humans are selfish and think of ourselves about the environment, so it’s up to the people in control to bring in some new rules, whether we like it or not!

Food prices increase, House prices decrease - GREAT! April 12, 2008

All this hoohah over food price increases and house price decreases over here in the UK would make you think there is a major economic crash on the way ……. wait, maybe there is, GREAT!

How we can all think that by consuming products that are recycled or made from sustainable materials can help the planet I will never know … it can’t … wake up people, THE only way our planet can survive our species continuing to live on it is by a mass population decrease.

If we all only used sustainable materials and methods to live then our planet would probably only be able to handle 1 billion people, at the most!

So guess what that means?!? … yup, as of right now there are 5.8 billion people too many on the planet!

Now, I don’t believe that there is any particular way of decreasing the population by that much that anyone on the planet would agree with …. for sure world governments are trying anyway … GM food, industrial civilization, famines, war etc etc …. but that isn’t reducing the population by enough.

An interesting statistic shows that from the year 1980 to 2000, world population growth was around 1.6 billion ……. 1.6 BILLION …. now, is that sustainable!?!

No matter what the governments and the people that are in control around the world try, there is no humane way to decrease the population levels enough within the next 50 years to ensure that our planet doesn’t go tits up … so, what next … it’s obvious really.

Nothing short of a complete and utter collapse of every society on the planet (apart from the tribes people, if there are any left) … in fact of our whole civilization!

And the only way that is going to happen, is through another world war, but this time on a much much more larger scale … or, maybe through a massive plan to pollute the food we eat, the air we breath, the water we drink.

Well, they’ve already tried all that, and it hasn’t worked, not on a large enough scale anyway, so I guess it’s only the war left then … but wait, what’s this thing on the internet about 2012??

Seems to be a lot of information on the internet at the moment about something happening on December 21st 2012, something about the Winter Solstice, something about the planets in our Solar System all being aligned!?!

I don’t know what is true and what isn’t, but I can read what seems to be truthful research and make my own mind up, but even then it could all be disinformation, who knows … but I know one thing … Food prices increase, house prices decrease … GREAT!

Screw your laws, I want to be free! April 11, 2008

I want to be free to have the food, shelter, clothing, sex….. the freedom I want.

I want to be able to live freely, to express myself without being told I am breaking your laws, or that you own the land I am walking on, or that you own something I want to use to create .. who says you own anything, especially when you use it to destroy and not create.

I’m aware you are allowed to have possessions, but you have too many, your a greedy fucker … leave some for me will you!?

I want to roam the land to find my food, but I’m not allowed to because you own all the land, and you hasve cultivated it so much that the land doesn’t grow what it should naturally any more.

I want to live where-ever I want to, in a tree, in a hut, in a cave, under a rock, but I can’t because you own all the land, and even when you say you don’t own it, you have destroyed anything natural on the land anyway.

I want to be able to walk around naked when it’s hot, but I can’t because its against your law because some of you might get offended … it’s my natural body you fucks, fuck you for getting offended by it … fucking prude.

I want to have sex where-ever I want, I can find plenty of females who want to have sex, but we can’t because you own all the land, and if you don’t own it, we would be breaking your law because some of you might get offended … it’s our natural bodies, it’s natural to have sex, if we’re not in your home having sex, we can have sex where-ever we like … fucking prude.

Ultimately I want to be free, to do what I want, when I want, where-ever I want — I want to create, I want to love, but I’m breaking your law unless I destroy.

I’m told every day I have to destroy because it makes economic sense … fuck your economics! It only makes economic sense because you have an over populated world that you can’t control without your economics.

Fuck off and die all of you destroyers … leave this land to the givers, the lovers, the creators. We don’t need your economics, we don’t need your politics, and we certainly don’t need your fucking laws.
